Public hearing to be held next week for planned marijuana store on Pioneer Drive – Leominster Champion

The Leominster City Council will meet next week on what could become the first marijuana store to open in the city of Leominster.

The board will hold a public hearing Monday, Oct. 25 at 6:15 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Leominster City Hall on an application by Revolutionary Clinics for a special permit to open a recreational marijuana dispensary at 130 Pioneer Drive.

This would be Revolutionary Clinics’ fourth dispensary, and its first offering marijuana for recreational purposes. It operates three medical marijuana shops in Cambridge and Somerville, along with a growing facility called Revolutionary Farms in a former shoe factory on Oak Hill Road in Fitchburg.

‘Apple Store meets Johnny Appleseed’

A presentation available on its website (revolutionaryclinics.org) states that its Leominster store would be located next to Soil X Corp., near the junction of Pioneer Drive and Orchard Hill Park Drive. The 2,336-square-foot store would be “designed like an Apple Store meets Johnny Appleseed level clean energy,” the presentation stated, with “Ground-up eco-friendly construction,” “indoor queuing of customers,” a one-way entrance and exit around the store, and more than 30 parking spaces.
