DAVENPORT — A woman was wounded and a man arrested after a morning shooting Wednesday.
The Davenport Police Department was called around 11:43 a.m. to the Gas Depot, 3100 W. Central Park Ave., for a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a department news release. Once in the area, they learned a 23-year-old Davenport woman had been shot. She was sent to the hospital with a wound in her arm that was not considered life threatening. The victim did require surgery.
No other injuries were reported, the release states.
Police found shell casings in the 3200 block of Heatherton Drive and determined it was the location where the woman had been shot, the release states.
The arrested man has been identified as Derris Swift, 23, St. Joseph, Mo., the release states. He is accused of willful injury causing serious injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
He is accused of firing a 9 mm handgun into the vehicle the woman was driving with the intent of injuring her, according the department. The vehicle was struck several times.
Police allege they found about 2.5 grams of marijuana in a baggy on Mr. Swift’s person, the release states.
He was being held Thursday on a $25,000 cash-only bond, according to Scott County
