Missouri came very close to putting medical marijuana on the ballot in 2016. Unfortunately, the effort fell short but activists are back for the 2018 cycle. The New Approach Missouri campaign has already collected over 150,000 signatures and is poised to make the ballot this year. If the campaign is able to achieve their goal, Missouri voters would decide whether or not to legalize medical marijuana.
The effort in Missouri received a big endorsement from United States Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) over the weekend, per the tweet found below (as featured in the Marijuana Moment newsletter):

Senator McCaskill has not always been on board with cannabis reform. In 2014 Senator McCaskill was on the fence about supporting hemp reform in Missouri and was opposed to recreational marijuana legalization. However, she has expressed support for medical cannabis in general prior to this weekend and once received a ‘C’ grade from NORML.
Hopefully Senator McCaskill’s endorsement of medical cannabis helps the New Approach Missouri campaign and the greater push for safe access nationwide. You can find out more about the New Approach Missouri campaign at their website. Please volunteer and/or donate to the campaign if possible. If you
