All To Know About Crumble Concentrate

Crumble is a potent cannabis concentrate known for its unusually high original terpene and cannabinoid content. Crumble ranges in color from yellow to soft orange and light brown, and may change over time from a pale yellow to golden amber. Crumble is one of the strongest types of cannabis concentrate, sometimes containing up to 90 percent THC. The extra-high THC and terpene content is what gives crumble its powerful effect and extra flavor.

Crumble is made using techniques similar to shatter and wax. The main difference aside from the texture is that crumble is made using cannabis extracts that have a heavier consistency and a higher moisture content, and are processed at a lower temperature. These factors are the reason crumble has a cheese-like body and consistency. Unlike some other concentrates that tend to have a more viscous texture, crumble is drier and crumbles easily.

The extraction process begins with ground dried and cured flower being soaked with a solvent that pulls the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds from the plant matter. Once the oils have been separated from the plant matter, heat and pressure are applied to vaporize the solvent. This step leaves behind a rough cannabis concentrate.

Once the oil is extracted it is placed inside a vacuum oven to remove residual solvents. This purging process is slightly different than other cannabis concentrates, mainly due to the lower temperatures used in the final stages of the extraction (between 110F – 135F) and the longer period of time. The lower temperatures ensure the integrity of the beneficial terpenes and cannabinoids, allowing for greater potency and robust flavors. Some distillers use a technique called whipping to agitate the substance and give it a lighter, airier consistency.

In addition to being one of the most potent concentrates on the market, crumble is the most economical, running around $40 per gram. Other concentrates can cost upwards of $60 per gram. Crumble’s high terpene and cannabinoid content offer an array of medical benefits.
